Taylor Wimpey in IT outsourcing deal

Taylor Wimpey has signed an IT outsourcing contract with LogicaCMG which aims to cut operational costs by 20 per cent.
As part of the five-year, £30 million deal, LogicaCMG will integrate and manage all of the homebuilder's IT systems, creating a common infrastructure.
The agreement comes after the 2007 merger of Taylor Woodrow and George Wiimpey and continues LogicaCMG's existing relationship with the latter firm.
Paul Caris, chief information officer at Taylor Wimpey, commented: "Our challenge, following the merger, was to provide a consistent IT service across the enlarged UK business and to deliver cost efficiencies through economies of scale."
He added that by outsourcing the IT management, the firm's internal team would be free to concentrate on integrating "strategic business systems".
Last month, LogicCMG created a new outsourcing services division, dedicated to delivering end-to-end services. The firm commented that the new division would help increase its flexibility and pass cost savings on to clients.
