Outsourcing by Scottish Water

29/04/2008

A number of outsourcing deals have been signed by Scottish Water as the firm attempts to save money in the next few years.

In total, three agreements have been made - one with BT for data and voice capabilities, another with Fujitsu for desktop support and a final one with Tata Consultancy Services that will focus on applications, reports Computerweekly.com.

Fresh capabilities are to be created as part of the project, the company argued, such as around the clock IT support.

General manager for IT at Scottish Water David Brown remarked that cost-cutting and innovation are two of the key drivers behind the switch.

They give "the opportunity to exploit the extensive development capabilities of some of the most innovative companies in the business", he noted.

In related news, TPI has recently said that IT firms will look to outsource in 2008 to try and find stability in a tumultuous economic environment.
