Outsourcing 'set to increase'
24/12/2007
Outsourcing is set to increase over the coming year as a result of new technologies and environmental issues, it has been claimed.
News website vnunet.com reported that the introduction of new technologies such as the iPhone are leading to a growth in IT outsourcing agreements as employees use them for business.
Joe Hogan, vice president of strategic outsourcing programmes at Unisys, said: "A profound transformation in how people work and do business is driving a new set of service requirements and imperatives."
Outsourcing providers will have to comply with these new user demands in order to succeed in the future, he added.
Mr Hogan also told the news provider that although cost savings have typically been the main reason for outsourcing services, this will now be automatically assumed as there are now a variety of benefits resulting from the decision.
According to Eurostat, an arm of the European Union, nearly half of all European firms have outsourced their IT channels.
