Financial problems 'will boost outsourcing ma

More firms should be pushed into the outsourcing arena in 2008 due to the impact of the global credit crunch, an official at one firm has claimed.
David Andrews, chief executive at Xchanging, noted that a "recession" could force firms to look elsewhere for some of their services, reports Reuters.
And 2008 could be a "defining" one for the outsourcing arena as a whole, Mr Andrews suggested, because of the current financial situation.
But most important will be the fact that organisations will look to lower the amount of money they have to spend when the economic situation is bleak.
"A recession will put pressure on costs. Companies will be forced to look at making cost savings," he commented.
Mr Andrews added that businesses may attempt to cut their offshoring ties and instead bring any outsourcing requirements back to the native country.
The vice president at Marsh's Risk Consulting Practice Matthew Elkington recently stated to Insurance Daily that outsourcing offers good "value" if it is implemented correctly.
