Borders website 'makes use of outsourcing'
26/06/2008
Sections of the new online presence from bookshop Borders were outsourced in order to make the venture a success, the firm has said.
The firm has now revealed that it wants to see large turnover from the internet arm, of about £8 million maximum in the first year, reports ComputerWeekly.com.
A suggestion sector on the site has been outsourced to Librarythingy.com, which enables users to look for possible purchases, news that may interest those who want to engage in outsourcing deals.
UK head of supply chain at Borders Geoff O'Neill argued that these solutions are "different" to others available on the market and should be greeted with pleasure by consumers.
He commented: "All my competitors have efficient accurate supply chain systems, so I had to do something different and that was to stay true to what the company stands for."
And the measures taken so far have been "common sense" largely, added Mr O'Neill, with possible additions to come at some point in the future.
In the US, Borders is currently the second biggest bookseller and offers consumers various other items such as CDs and DVDs.
